Hello, My name is Seho, but just call me Warren. I was born and raised in South Korea. I worked for U.S. Forces Korea as an IT specialist over 8 years and met my wife who is active duty Army while she was in Korea. We have been together two years. My wife is currently studying at Naval Postgraduate School. We are expect to back to Korea in December. If someone PCS to Korea, I will help you. Thanks!

Thank you so much. Naval Postgraduate School is located in Monterey, California. Two hours from south of San Francisco, one hours from south of San Jose. There are two military bases in here. Naval Postgraduate School and Defense Language Institute.

Sounds like you're living in a pretty nice place!  I guess that's one good thing about being part of the Navy, ocean-front living most of the time.  So you won't be able to return to Korea with your wife?

Chris,

It is a nice place. But there is nothing but a nice place in here. Monterey is famous for tourism and golf. Becaus of this, cost of living here is very expensive and not many jobs are available.

We are waiting for answer from branch manager. Branch manager told my wife that it will be changed to accompanied tour 99.9%. But 0.1% of possibility of unaccompanied tour. We have a big uncertainty for PCS right now due to government shutdown.

Sorry to hear that Seho.  I know there is nothing more nerve wracking than "not knowing" about your future.  I hope all works out!  If not, what are your plans?  Are you going to stay in Monteray?

Chris,

Sorry for late replying. Branch told us that we might PCS with TDY en route. Branch is debating on PCSing to Korea or TDY en route to Fort Gordon, GA, Fort Lee, VA, Fort Belvoir, VA or Huntsville, AL. Branch and gaining unit doing a tug of war for our location in Korea. Gaining unit wants to us stay near US military installation, but the branch wants us to stay in Korean military installation. So, we decided to pack our stuff before thanksgiving. And I will follow her to Korea even though it is unaccompanied tour. I just need to pay for flight ticket and get a visa. Things are getting very hecktic.
